Google Maps will enable Live Activities in the coming months, giving iPhone users turn-by-turn instructions on the Lock Screen and in the Dynamic Island on the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max.
Users will be able to obtain real-time ETAs and instructions for driving, bicycling, walking, public transportation, and other modes of navigation via Google Maps without having to unlock their iPhones and launch the app.
Live Activities, which debuted with iOS 16, are basically live alerts on the Lock Screen that make Apple easy to keep on top of real-time events like a sports game or a restaurant delivery order. On iPhone 14 Pro models, Live Activities also connect with Dynamic Island, enabling quick access to information at the top of the screen. Users may get an enlarged view with more information by long-pressing Dynamic Island.
Since the introduction of iOS 16, Apple Maps has enabled Live Activities, while third-party apps have been able to support the functionality since iOS 16.1.
Google has yet to release a screenshot of how its Live Activity will seem.
