Although the era of PCIe 5.0 SSDs has arrived, Gen4 drives are not going away anytime soon.
For example, Gigabyte just unveiled the Aorus Gen4 7300 SSD, an upgraded PCIe 4.0 SSD with read performance of up to 7300MB/s.
A Phison E18 8-channel controller powers the SSD, providing consumers with a high random access rate and high-speed 3D-TLC NAND Flash and SLC cache architecture capable of saturating the PCIe 4.0 standard.
To prevent this problem, Gigabyte has provided a unique full-coverage heatsink that allows customers to select between the motherboard’s built-in aluminium cooling and the supplied heatsink.
This design also enables more flexible thermal setups for PCs and PS5 consoles.
