Google Fined $60 Million by Australian Government for Misleading Android Users

Due to misleading information, the Australian government has fined the tech giant $60 million. The fine is because of the misuse of location data of the Android users. In 2019, Google was sued by the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC).

Their point was that Google’s Android phone settings for location were misleading the users. According to the ACCC, Google has access to the mobile site even if the location settings for third-party apps were turned off.

Further, according to the Australian authority, another app known as “Web & App Activity” also misled users’ data.

The fine imposed on Google and Android gives all the tech giants a message that they should avoid misleading and stealing their customer’s data without their consent.
