Backed by Meta, the famous video-sharing, audio, and instant messaging app, WhatsApp has announced that the mobile app will not work on certain older smartphones from October 24, 2023.

WhatsApp announced that its app will stop supporting older Android-based smartphones with outdated operating systems. So if any of these older Android versions are installed on your smartphone, you must consider upgrading your smartphone to WhatsApp without any hurdle.

According to the Meta-owned instant messaging app, WhatsApp supports Android 4.1 or later. But starting from October 24, the app will only work on Android 5.0 or later versions.

So, if your Android is older than 5.0, you won’t be able to use WhatsApp. WhatsApp is a popular messaging app on both Android and iOS operating systems.

Similarly, iOS 12 or later users can use WhatsApp, and older iOS phones will not support the video-sharing app.

It has more than 1 billion active users per month. Besides iOS and Android, WhatsApp is also available on various other operating systems, tablets, desktop computers, and smart TV sets.
