TikTok Might be Facing USD29 Million Fine in the UK

After Facebook, Instagram and Google, TikTok will be the next tech company on which a multimillion-dollar fine could be imposed. According to the UK authorities, TikTok has been found guilty of violating children’s privacy.

If Tiktok is found guilty, then the UK authorities could impose around a USD29 million fine. According to an investigation, TikTok breached the UK children’s privacy law by processing data of children under 13 without proper parental consent.

According to the Information Commissioner’s Office of the UK, TikTok may have processed some sensitive data without taking legal steps, and a short video sharing platform made failed to provide transparent information.

UK authorities want children to learn in a free environment and experience the digital world without any fear of privacy issues. Further, they said that technology companies should provide transparent information and they should place protection.

TikTok is planning to respond to the UK authorities sometime.
