Threads, the Meta-owned Twitter (now X) competitor, is rolling out a new change. This new addition will work like hashtags, but it is different and also includes some additional features.
Hashtags or simple tags in the Threads app will not contain the hash symbol, but it will be a phrase, and even spaces can be added to the Threads tags. To handle the tags on posts, Threads has added a new menu item (#), and by clicking it, you will be able to add a tag to your post.
Threads are trying to put tags in normal phrases and sentences to keep them more natural and attractive. It means that thread tags will be visible to the public as anchor text of HTML.
Users can also use special characters in tags. By clicking on the # button, you will see some recommendations as soon as you start writing a tag. Threads will give you real-time recommendations from existing and already-used tags.
You can choose from the list or create your own tag. Currently, only one tag can be selected per post to avoid potential tag spam on the platform.
Users who want to follow the tag can click on the tag, and it will show them everything under the same topic.
