In 2021, Google started to work on adding real-money gaming apps to the Play Store. In September 2022, Google launched a trial program for real-money game developers in India, Brazil, and Mexico, focusing on Daily Fantasy Sports and Rummy titles on its Play Store. Up until January 15 of last year, Google allowed previously approved apps.
Now, Google just dropped the news that they’re giving the green light for real-money gaming apps to keep rolling for another six months until June 30, 2024. and will allow more such RMG apps this year, including new game types and operators.
The company has stated its long-term objective of expanding the availability of RMG (Real Money Gaming) apps in more regions as part of its ongoing strategy. Additionally, it is exploring a new subscription fee model and in-app purchase fees but hasn’t disclosed the percentage it will be taking from developers.
