Although Ross Young, a display analyst, previously asserted that Apple’s suppliers would start producing 15.5-inch display panels for the new MacBook Air in the first quarter of 2023, leading him to believe that the notebook would be released as early as this spring, Gurman did not provide any additional information about the 15-inch MacBook Air.

The 15-inch variant will probably have a very similar or the same style as the most recent 13-inch model because the MacBook Air was just updated in 2022, and it will probably come with M2 and M2 Pro processor options.

Gurman earlier asserted that Apple was considering releasing the 12-inch MacBook at the end of 2023 or at the beginning of 2024. However, he claimed today that the company’s short-term vision no longer included the smaller notebook.

Apple has previously launched 12-inch notebooks in a range of price points. At the low end, Apple released a 12-inch, two-pound MacBook in 2015, but the device was dropped from the lineup in 2019. And before the first MacBook Pro, Apple sold a 12-inch PowerBook G4 at the top end in the mid-2000s.

Apple silicon has better performance per watt, enabling the company to return an ultra-thin, fanless MacBook if it so chooses in the future.
