Norway to Fine Meta $98,500 a Day Over Privacy Breaches

Meta the parent company of Facebook will be fined around USD 100,000 per day amid privacy breaches starting from 14 August, 2023. Norway’s authority for protecting data privacy told Reuters.

According to reports, Meta would be fined if they did not address the breaches in an effective way. There are no immediate comments from the Meta platform as of now.

The Data Protection Authority of Norway said that the social media platform cannot use the data without the user’s consent for retargeting and advertisement purposes.

The fine on Meta will start on 14 August and will run till 3 November of this year. The fine may become permanent as the organization has the authority to do so.
