iPhone 16, iPhone 16 Plus to support increased RAM, faster Wi-Fi: report

While Apple prepares to unveil the Vision Pro mixed reality headset next month, the highly anticipated iPhone 16 is slated for a later release this year. Leaks and rumors abound, hinting at larger screens, improved cameras, AI features, and even a dedicated video capture button.

The latest report suggests that the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus will boast increased RAM and accelerated Wi-Fi capabilities, signaling a series of noteworthy enhancements.

As per insights from a 9To5Mac report referencing analyst Jeff Pu, the next iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus will be powered by Apple’s latest 3nm A18 chipset.

The Pro versions of the phones will come with an A18 Pro processor and an improved Qualcomm X75 modem, which may offer faster 5G speeds compared to the base models featuring the Qualcomm X70 modem.

Additionally, both models will receive an upgrade in RAM to 8GB from the previous 6GB.

According to Jeff Pu and Ming-Chi Kuo, the iPhone 16 will have an upgraded 48MP Ultra-wide camera—a considerable improvement over the 12MP model—which could improve the quality of its spatial video recording.

The iPhone 16 series is expected to bring Wi-Fi 6E support, which is currently exclusive to the iPhone 15 Pro models. This enhancement offers faster speeds and improved network performance.

Analyst Jeff Pu also suggests the potential for iPhone 16 Pro models to support the newly launched Wi-Fi 7, introducing further advancements in wireless connectivity.

The addition of iOS 18, which is compatible with all models and includes generative AI technologies and a sophisticated Siri, is noteworthy.
