Bored Ape Yacht Club hacked, Swipe $360,000 worth of NFTs in a phishing attack

Gordon Goner, the founder of the Bored Ape Yacht Club (BAYC), publicly lashed out at Discord after their server was hacked.

According to Yuga Labs, the Bored Ape Yacht Club (BAYC) Discord server was hacked on Saturday with an unknown assailant stealing 200 ETH ($360,000) worth of crypto tokens.

As it turns out, the hack was due to a phishing attack from an imposter posing as Boris Vagner, who is the Project’s Community Manager. They took advantage of this situation by posting false links in the Discord channels for both BAYC and its related blockchain ecosystem named Otherside according to investigations.

Twitter user NFTherder was the first to identify the vulnerability, tracking the stolen coins down to four different wallets.

He is presently working with the Twitter user who purchased these items from the thief to prosecute them as we speak.
