WhatsApp testing new text formatting options for Android and iOS users

An easy-to-use free messaging app for iPhone, Android, Mac, and Windows is called WhatsApp. Users can send free text, photo, audio, and video messages around the world and make calls using it.

In 2016, WhatsApp introduced text formatting features. They are currently testing more options for beta users on iOS and Android.

According to a recent rumor, WhatsApp’s latest Android beta release (version #2.24.2.9) comes with two new text formatting features. Android users of WhatsApp can now add code blocks, quote blocks, numbered lists, and bulleted lists to their messages using these text formatting features.

This extends the formatting options that were already available, such as strikethrough, italic, and bold.

Here’s a little explanation of how it will operate:

  • Code Block: Use “`” before and after a sentence to create a code block.
  • Quote Block: Start and end a message with “>” for a quote block.
  • Lists: Use “-” or “*” for bulleted lists, and simply type a number for ordered lists—easy formatting for enhanced messaging.

New text formatting options on WhatsApp, currently in beta for Android (v2.24.2.9) and iOS (v23.21.1.75)

These features are expected to improve the messaging experience for users and may soon be available on the stable channel.
