The most recent WhatsApp version includes a screen-sharing function that records and displays the contents of your screen to whoever is on the other end of the video chat.
The function is represented by a symbol of a phone with an arrow pointing out of it, and it stands alongside long-standing capabilities like switching cameras, muting, and silencing video.
When you select the new option, a popup comes up asking whether you want to “Start recording or casting with WhatsApp?” It also states that the firm will have access to any passwords, photographs, or payment information you display.
If you own an iPhone or iPad and don’t want to be bound to WhatsApp, Apple introduced a similar screen-sharing option in FaceTime chats in January.
