WhatsApp Introduces “Search by Date” Feature for Android Users

WhatsApp has introduced a new feature that makes it easier for users to search their chat history. The latest update adds a “search by date” function to Android devices, enabling users to quickly find specific messages by selecting a date from a calendar interface.

This feature, which is already available on other platforms like iOS, Mac desktop, and WhatsApp Web, was announced by Mark Zuckerberg himself via his WhatsApp channel. In a video shared by Zuckerberg, he demonstrated how easy it is to find an old chat about Karaoke using the new feature.

To utilize the “search by date” function, users simply need to follow these steps:

1. Open the desired individual or group chat.
2. Tap the search icon (magnifying glass).
3. Select the calendar icon in the search bar’s top right corner.
4. Choose the desired date from the calendar view.
5. Tap “Jump to date” to display messages from that specific day.

This update brings several benefits to WhatsApp users:

• Faster searches: Finding messages quickly by specifying a date saves time and effort.
• Organized approach: Locate specific information from defined dates, streamlining the search process.
• Easier non-text retrieval: Find voice notes and photos previously unsearchable by keywords.

In another update, the latest beta version from the Google Play Beta Program is introducing a way to share QR codes from the chats tab, facilitating easier connections with others.
