Great Tips to Get the Most out of Your Mac

Macbooks are known for their longevity and a plethora of great features. However, people who are relatively new to macOS tend to miss out on a lot of neat things one can do using a Macbook.

By not knowing specific things we can do with our Macs, we are still very happy with the entire experience. But just imagine how much better the experience might be if you would know some extra tips and tricks you can perform on your Mac – to make everything more interesting and more efficient.

For example, if you struggle to deal with large files on Mac, and want more interesting graphic features, here we’ll share some extra tips that will make your experience even more significant than before.

Getting the Best out of Bluetooth on Mac

As you know, Mac, like most computers, has integrated Bluetooth. But often we don’t even consider taking advantage of the benefits Bluetooth can bring to a Mac – you’d be surprised. For example, if you have other Apple devices, like iPhone, Apple Watch, or iPad, you can do many things quicker – thanks to Bluetooth.

Let’s say you have an iPhone, and you are using your Mac at the same time. While browsing Safari on your phone, you can easily transfer your search window or any page you were reading to your Mac – you will see an icon appear in the left of the Dock.

Also, if you have an Apple Watch, you can enable a very convenient feature that unlock your Mac automatically – but only if you are near your Mac and wearing your Apple Watch.

Placing an Emoji on Your Desktop Folders

In order to make your desktop look more fun and enthusiastic, you can place emojis on your desktop folders. This will also make it easier to recognize where different kinds of content are placed visually.

To do so, first of all, you need to create a new folder by clicking on File and choosing the New folder option. Then go to Safari or any other browser you use, go to Google search and search for any emoji that you like – for example, “face with tears of joy” or “smiling face with heart-eyes”.

Then drag the image to your desktop, double-click to open it, press the markup tool to make the image transparent, click on the background of the image and choose the option “Edit” and then “Cut”. Then, by using the same tool, click and drag a shape around the emoji. Then choose “Edit”, select all, and click on Command + C. Right-click on the folder that you created previously and click on “Get Info”. Click on the blue folder icon, press Command + V, and here you have it.

Reset Your Mac Password If You Ever Forget It

This has happened to all of us – at one point in our lives, we catch ourselves, forgetting an important password that we really need to remember at that moment. If this ever happens with your Mac, there are two different ways you can easily recover your password.

Apple ID – after you make a mistake in your password a few times, Mac might ask you if you want to reset your password with your Apple ID. To continue with the process if you do not get asked this question, click on the question mark icon next to the password text field. Enter your Apple ID password and email when asked to. Then simply follow up with the process that will help you create a new password for your Mac.

Recovery Mode – to activate this process, you will need to turn off your computer first. Then, press Command + R and after – the power button. Hold Command + R until you will see a progress bar on your screen. Click on Menu, Utilities, and then choose the Terminal option. Type “reset password” in the appearing window. Click Return. Close Terminal windows, and you will see the Reset Password Tool – from here, just follow up with the instructions that you Mac will give you.

Using keyboard shortcuts might be really effective, and it can save you a great amount of time. The good thing is that you can create your own – which will come in handy, especially if you work with programming or graphic design where you are sued to using a lot of keyword shortcuts.

To create your own, first of all, go to System Preferences. Here, click on Keyboard, then go to Shortcuts, and finally – press on App Shortcuts and press the “+” icon. You will see a box that will offer you to choose an application. After choosing, click on “Add,” and you are good to go and start using your new keyboard shortcut.
