Get ready, Android fans! Google is gearing up to release the first preview of Android 15 later this week. In a recent announcement on the Android Open Source Project, a Google developer revealed that the preview, internally dubbed “Android V” or “Vanilla Ice Cream,” is scheduled for Thursday, February 15, 2024.
This preview comes shortly after the launch of Android 14 QPR3 Beta 1, showing Google’s commitment to keeping Android updated and fresh. While it’s arriving a bit later than last year’s preview, Android 15 promises some cool new features.
One highlight is the Private Spaces feature, allowing users to lock certain apps from appearing in their app list. Lock Screen widgets are making a comeback, and Google is bringing full-screen apps that seamlessly integrate with the navigation and status bars.
Excitingly, the Android 15 Developer Preview will be available for Google Pixel 6 and newer Pixel devices. While these preview builds are mainly for app developers to test their apps, if you have a supported Pixel device, you’ll be able to download and install the firmware build.
