Google sends out February update for its Pixels

Google deviated from its “first Monday of the month” Android update schedule last year, but the trend continues with a new update released on the first Monday of this month.

Google just announced that the February 2024 update is rolling out to Pixel devices, starting with the Pixel 5a 5G. The update includes bug fixes, and while there’s no mention of new features in the release notes, it follows a surprise Feature Drop in late January.

To install today’s update:

  1. Go to Settings.
  2. Select System.
  3. Choose System update.
  4. Tap Check for updates.
  5. Follow the prompts for installation.

If you can’t wait or need to address storage issues:

  • Use the manual method to flash factory images.
  • Sideload the OTA.

After updating, global Pixel models will be on version UQ1A.240205.002, except for Pixel 8 and 8 Pro, which get UQ1A.240205.004. Verizon models differ slightly, and SoftBank Japan models follow a similar pattern.

The update includes stability and performance enhancements, camera improvements, display and Wi-Fi fixes, and resolves issues with certain third-party apps on all devices.
