Apple has released a new support document today providing details on the security enhancements included in the latest firmware updates for AirPods and Beats headphones. The document reveals that the recent 5B66 firmware update, which was made available yesterday, addresses a vulnerability that could potentially grant unauthorized access to your Beats Fit Pro and Powerbeats Pro headphones.
This vulnerability also affected various models of AirPods, including AirPods Pro and AirPods Max, with the exception of the first-generation AirPods. However, Apple resolved the issue for these products through the 5E133 firmware update, which was released last month.
Additionally, Apple rolled out another firmware update (5E135) yesterday for the affected AirPods and Beats models.
If your AirPods or Beats headphones are paired with an iOS device or Mac and are within Bluetooth range while charging, they will automatically receive firmware updates.
