Apple will suspend or delay commercial production of the planned 2024 iPhone SE 4, according to Ming-Chi Kuo, an Apple analyst, in a series of tweets today.
Kuo also stated that Apple`s full-screen design for the iPhone SE 4 will necessitate higher expenses and selling prices, implying that Apple may need to “reconsider the product positioning and return on investment” for the iPhone SE 4.
Apple’s plans for the iPhone SE 4 have not been completed, and Apple analyst Ross Young stated earlier this year that Apple had not chosen whether to use an OLED or LCD display for the smartphone.
Apple withdrew the 5.4-inch iPhone series following poor sales of the mini-sized iPhone 12 and iPhone 13 models, and speculations suggest that the more cheap iPhone 14 Plus has also had lower-than-expected sales.
As a result, Apple may instead focus on its flagship iPhones in 2023 and 2024, delaying work on the iPhone SE line or opting for cheaper components that allow for a lower price point than the planned design revisions.
