According to the news report, Apple’s first mixed-reality headset might have “in-air” typing capabilities and be able to be used without an accompanying iPhone. The report noted that, unlike the first Apple Watch, Apple’s headset is unlikely to require a paired iPhone in the most recent issue of his “Power On” newsletter.

The first iteration of the headset, most likely to be called “Reality Pro,” is still scheduled to be unveiled by Apple at WWDC in June of this year, with a shipping date for the product no later than the end of 2023.

Both a second-generation Reality Pro headset and a less expensive model with lower-end display and processor components are scheduled to go on sale at the end of 2024 or in 2025.

The second-generation Reality Pro headset is apparently focused on performance improvements. While the first-generation model will contain the M2 chip alongside a secondary chip for AR and VR processing, it is apparently not powerful enough to output graphics at the level Apple wants. The second-generation Reality Pro could have a variant of the M3 or M4 chip to bolster its graphics capabilities, Report said.
