WhatsApp to Launch New Feature Blocking Screenshots of Profile Photos

WhatsApp is working on a new feature that will block end users from capturing screenshots of their profile photos. This feature aims to enhance the privacy of WhatsApp users.

Initially, it was reported that the feature would be available only to Android users, but now Meta is also testing the same feature for iOS. This unauthorized capture of a profile photo is added to the iOS 24.10.10.70 beta update.

If the update is rolled out, it will significantly enhance the app’s security for users’ privacy. Unfortunately, no such feature has been added.

Users can take screenshots of profile pictures. Once this feature goes live, a popup message will appear to those who try to capture screenshots. It is essential to mention that WhatsApp continuously adds new privacy protection features.

This new feature will resolve the issue of misuse of profile photos. This feature may not resolve the issue 100% because third-party tools can be used for the same, but it is a good move towards a secure internet for all.

If the reports are accurate, Android and iOS users will see this update in action in the coming weeks.
