In Overwatch 2 Season 4, a new ranking system was introduced which would no longer reset players’ ranks or cause rank decay.

However, due to miscommunication, some players are seeing rank changes and attributing them to rank decay, when in fact it’s due to the transition from skill tier division to the game’s hidden matchmaking system.

Additionally, a bug from Season 3 is causing some players to receive incorrect rewards and start with lower ranks in Season 4. Overwatch 2 game director Aaron Keller confirmed the bug and reported that a fix is being rolled out this month. So, players should not worry about rank changes and will receive correct Season 3 rewards and compensation for the bug.
