Threads, the so-called X (Twitter) competitor, now allows its users to delete their accounts without deleting their Instagram account. Thread, which was launched in July 2023, initially allowed only Instagram users to use their photo-sharing platform account for the Threads account setup.
Initially, users were happy to sign up without creating a new account but soon realised it was good. Once you activate the Threads account, the only way to delete it is to delete the Instagram account.
But now the Head of Instagram has announced that things have changed, and the restriction has been lifted. Now, users can navigate to Settings > Delete or Deactivate Profile from the app.
This way, users can delete their Threads account or temporarily suspend it. In both cases, your original Instagram account will not be affected.
Now, you can limit post-sharing options using Privacy from the Settings app. If you want not to show your Threads posts on Instagram and Facebook, you can change the Privacy of Threads.
