Microsoft recently announced that it will combine its Xbox and Xbox Game Pass apps into a single app on iOS and Android.
After merging both Xbox and Game Pass into a single app, it will simplify the gaming experience for mobile users by using all features, such as managing Game Pass memberships, browsing the game menu, claiming gifts for Game Pass Ultimate members, and accessing social features like party chat, remote installation, and more within just one single Xbox app.
From November 2024, Microsoft will discontinue the download feature for the Xbox Game Pass app and integrate the features into the Xbox app.
The beta version for iOS and Android has already been released, and testers can experience the new app.
The one single app is not for browser-based and Xbox Cloud Gaming. These will still require a browser, as Apple’s restrictions on cloud gaming apps remain in place.
This app merging is part of Microsoft’s broader vision to enhance its Xbox ecosystem. It will offer a more friendly experience across platforms.
