Discord, a world-leading chat app, launched a new end-to-end encryption feature (E2EE) for audio and video calls. With this new feature, your voice and video chats are secure, and even Discord itself will not be able to access or know what users are saying during these conversations.
With the introduction of this new feature, Discord has become more secure for communication.
Stephen Birarda from Discord shared that the company is now implementing E2EE for voice and video calls in direct messages (DMs), group DMs, voice channels, and Go Live streams.
Although Discord is introducing this feature now, it is a standard security feature in popular social media apps, including Apple’s iMessage, WhatsApp, Signal, and Facebook Messenger.
However, while this new encryption feature will secure voice and video calls, a Discord spokesperson clarified that there are no current plans to extend E2EE to direct messages or group chats.
